Making a Plan- July

Yesterday I spent the majority of the afternoon planning meals for the rest of July----after we return from vacation. I know that I know how to cook more than 20 meals.....but why did I have such a hard time coming up with 20 different meals? I would love to hear what your favorite meals are....and if you spot something obvious that I have left off....please tell me...I am new at this so am fairly sure I've forgotten something!

1. Spaghetti, Green Beans, Rolls
2. Turkey, Potatoes, Broccoli, Watermelon
3. Chili Dogs, Chips
4. Chicken Pot Pie, Salad
5. BLT's, Mac N Cheese
6. Sausage, Corn, Baked Beans
7. Grilled Cheese, Chips
8. Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Squash, Green Beans
9. Crockpot Chicken, Rice, Salad
10. Pizza
11. Cheeseburger Macaroni, Broccoli
12. Taco Salad
13, Chicken Spaghetti
14. Turkey Sandwiches, Chips
15. Roast, Potatoes, onions, carrots, Salad, Rolls
16. Chicken Nuggets, Corn, Apple Sauce
17. Pork Chops, Pasta, Green Beans
18. Pancakes, Eggs, Bacon
19. Hamburgers, Homemade Fries
20. Corn Dogs, Chips

A question: When you meal plan do you plan your meals and then look for coupons or do you base your menus off the coupons you have?

Hey Gina! As you may already know from FB, my idea was to put 30 meals on an undated calendar month page. It's my list, so to speak, and from it I choose a meal that looks good, and in no particular order. For now though, I'll probably work off of what I already have in the freezer, and then when I get that pared down, I'll probably shoot for more healthy. I noticed from my own list I had too much pasta on there. So, I'll probably try the whole-wheat pasta route instead.

We don't subscribe to a paper, so I probably won't coupon. I know some people who are part of a grocery subscription and save, they claim, hundreds per year in their shopping. From there they make there menus.

Wow....sorry for being so longwinded! : ) Blessings. I admire your efforts in planning.

Good for you, Gina! You inspired me to list out my meal plans too. It's been a while since I've done that. Thanks!

We love lots of Mexican foods: tacos, burritos, Mexican casseroles, taco soup and chicken spaghetti. Just some ideas......I think I might make a list too!!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!!!

Hi Gina! I prefer to look at what is on sale and then make my menu for the week. That way if something is a really good buy, I can lower my grocery bill that week. Something Andy and I have really enjoyed since having an infant in the house is BBQ sandwiches with baked beans and corn or potato salad. I put boneless skinless chicken breasts in the crock pot on high for 1 hour (for food safety) and then low for 2 hours with some BBQ sauce in it and then shred it for sandwiches. That on an onion roll or regular bun is delicious! I would tell you about my salmon patties but I know you would gag! Don't forget about my pimento cheese sandwiches. Yum!

Ok, so here's a few other options. Mexican spaghetti-for a twist on the regular and chicken-yummy!

Quesadillas-beef or chicken-very quick and simple

Penne Pasta with bottled alfredo sauce-not the healthiest, but quick and easy and we all love it.

Enchiladas-way too many variations for this, but the recipe on the Old El Paso enchilada sauce is great and only 4 ingredients.

Chicken rolls-a family favorite

Leftover roast-turn it into homemade barbecue.

Soft tacos-easy peasey with beef or chicken

Baked potato soup
