Day #11 Beautiful Details

Nature

The word tells us that through Him and for Him all things were created,
That we are as clay in the potter's hands.
What kind of potter possesses the power to change the seasons
And the subtlety to bring forth a radiant flower from the smallest bud
Or endows a fragile monarch butterfly with the instinct to travel thousands of miles
Or through the thunder and lightning of a panoramic storm brings life-giving rain?
Who blesses a humble grain of wheat by some miracle to germinate and produce a stalk with multiple grains at its head?
When planted in great numbers it produces food for thousands.
The Word tells us that the pinnacle of creation,
The baby conceived in a virgin's womb by the Holy Spirit
Died on a cross to pay for his workmanship's failures
That if we believe in Him we do not perish but are re-created by nail-scarred hands
Emerging as from a cocoon
Raptured souls finding rest beyond the river
Glorifying the triune Creator forever and ever!

God's Country - revamped

Details are beautiful. And sometimes we need to take a closer look so we can understand better what God is up to. Looking at the details cause us to stop, think and sit in wonderment of the extreme creativity and detail that God spent on us. The human body, nature, space...it all screams of God's amazing attention to details.

And..since we were created in His image, He's given us all a spirit of creativity. Maybe it's crafting or music or computer design or gardening...if you look hard enough, you'll find an area of creativity, an area of detail that He's given you too. Honor Him with that. The details scream of God's majesty. I want to be a part of that..don't you?

Leave a comment: What's your area of creativity or attention to detail?

Smashing

I've wanted to get back into scrapbooking for over a year. Yet, as much as the desire for the finished product was appealing, the thought of all the mess that is involved and frankly, the perfectionist tendencies that I had when doing it before, all made the idea less than desirable for me.

But....I just found out about smashing. Have you heard about it? From my understanding it's old school scrapbooking, where you take your receipts, snapshots, movie stubs anything and smash it randomly onto cute paper. So it still has the feel of scrapbooking but not the perfection. Here are some pics I found online so you can get a better idea if you're interested:

So, this January I am going to give it a try. I'll try to remember to post a picture of what I smash at the end of the month...and I'll give my honest review if this is easier than scrapbooking. And for all of you who are avid scrappers....claps for you...I love looking at the finished project! If you're already smashing I'd love to see your work...send me a link and I'll take a look!

For more pictures of some great smashing check out this LINK.

Fall Festival Fotos

About a week ago my kids decided they wanted to enter the art contest at the Hopkins County Fall Festival. So after looking at the categories, they decided to create mosaics using tiny pieces of construction paper. Savannah chose to do a sunrise and Tucker wanted to create a snowman. They both did a fabulous job (however I do believe there was way more glue on my kitchen table than on their paper!)

Tucker won Grand Champion in the under 10 paper craft division.
(He couldn't care less...he just thought it was cool to get a ribbon!)

Either way, I'm super proud of both of them. It's great for them to experience something on the creative side and whether it's grand champion or red ribbon it teaches them to try new things! They are already talking about what they can do for next year!...and Bruce is trying to get possession of the artwork for his office.

12 Weeks of Christmas Project- Ragamuffin Garland- Complete

Well, this week the project on the 12 Weeks of Christmas meme over at Red Writing was "Handmade Gifts"

I had seen this over at The Nesting Place and knew I wanted to try to make one to give away...(or to keep if it turned out too darn cute!)

1. Start with fabrics that you love. I chose these calicos at Walmart for $2.00 a yard and got 1 yard of each. (the ones on the bottom, folded, are the calicos) The rolls of fabric were in the clearance bin.

2. Convince a sweet, handsome almost 4 year old boy to be your assistant
(No...you can't borrow mine if you don't have one!)

3. Cut your fabric into about 6-8 inch strips. No, I didn't measure...just guesstimate...If you cook, you know what I am talking about.

4. I used a twine rope leftover from my assistant's halloween costume to tie  my strips onto.

5. Keep tying until you reach the volume you want for your garland....then tie some more!

In the end you'll have a pretty ragamuffin garland to give away....

or to keep!

(Seriously this is for my daughter's room...her JOJO gave her a smashing quilt for her new room that this will match perfectly....more pictures soon!)

*I'll be making more of these...for some of my friends for Christmas.
*I thought it would take more fabric than it did. I have enough fabric to make at least one more with just the fabric shown in the picture at the top of this post.

FUN! FUN! FUN!

Ragamuffin garland

Twelve Weeks of ChristmasHop on over to The Nesting Place to see what I will be making later this week for Keelie's Twelve Weeks of Christmas Tour. These are just about the cutest things I have ever seen....I'm gonna enlist Savannah's (7 yo) help.

I can think of more than one person on my Christmas list that would like one of these!

Wanna make one? Wanna come to my house and we can do it together?...let's schedule a craft day! Interested...leave me a comment (and this is for real...seriously!)....for my out of town readers...we could schedule a virtual craft day and post our pictures together....I don't want to leave you out!

Happy Fall Ya'll

As mentioned before, I am joining in on my friend Keelie's Fall Wreath Party. One slight problem...didn't really think about where I would take a picture of this lovely hanging wreath once I finished...being that living in the RV doesn't afford a lot of photo worthy space. So, pardon the photography and just think about how lovely this will look in my new home in October!

Head on over to Red Writing and take a look at all the other great wreath ideas.

Wreath Party at Red Writing

I'm joining in on Red Writing's wreath party tomorrow. If you are interested....and I know you are...she's got all the details at her site . Looks like there's gonna be some pretty nifty prizes too! I'll be posting my wreath sometime tomorrow....gotta get those supplies all rounded up tonight! Happy crafting!!!
