Everything is coming up pumpkins!

What a great day I had today. There are some moments in time I want to freeze and today was one of them. I took my kids to a pumpkin patch about an hour away from home. It was a total "FUN" Day. We stopped and ate donuts with friends before leaving town and then took our time taking everything in at the patch. I took pics of the kids with their favorite animated characters, ate shaved ice, went on a hayride, the kids played in all sorts of bounce houses, played in the pumpkin patch and talked to the horses and donkeys! We had a blast! I marvel at the sweetness of their innocence and pray they stay sheltered from the harshness of this world for a few more years.

It's not that often that I do fun things out by myself with the kids. Bruce's schedule usually allows for fun things like this to be done together as a family. Today was different and allowed me the chance to spend some mommy time loving and enjoying my kids without all the normal mom commands (don't, stop, no, not now, when your dad gets home....) Thank you Lord!

Went to the GIFT meeting tonight with Bruce. He accepted the nomination to be on their board for the next three years. GIFT is a scholarship program that helps kids who have been raised in our town to be gifted with a scholarship to go to college. It's a great program.

Great day!

What I did today....or why am I so tired

1. Worked until after midnight (this morning)
2. Got caught up on all my PR work
3. Did a few loads of laundry
4. Researched vacation options
5. Played with the kids
6. Cooked Dinner
7. Cleaned Kitchen
8. Bathed Kids
9. Talked to family on the phone
10. Cleaned permanent marker off Savannah's door and several other surfaces in her room (thank you Tucker)

What a day! We will do it all again tomorrow too!

Computer Crankiness

I have been cranky the last two weeks...there, I admit it! About two weeks ago I called Dell about a minor computer problem and over the last two weeks they have managed to replace the mother board, memory (2 times), the hard drive (after they infected my old one), and the cd/dvd driver. WOW...all I really needed was a new battery! Well....all this ended up getting me a new computer at Dell's expense....but what I had to get from one department supervisor to another...well....that's where I got cranky! I had to repeat "That is not acceptable" 40 some odd times before I got anywhere!!! But...in 10 days I will have a new computer. Thankfully someone finally heard me!

Isn't it funny how we have let these modern conveniences become such a huge part of our lives. For me, without a computer I can't pay bills, balance the checkbook, earn a paycheck, listen to music, send email and much more. I am much more prone to clean house and make really good meals though!

So, today Bruce hung out at home, and I have been able to get caught up on all things computer. I feel like I have a better handle on things and can get through the next 10 days without a repeat episode of crankiness! I think my family might like me more!

Celebrating

Today I continued to celebrate my friends 40th birthday. I say continued because we've been celebrating for a little over a week now. I don't care. I like celebrations...pretty much any chance I get to eat dessert and hang out with friends...I'm there. We went to the Blue Mesa (a first for me...but I will be going back...yummy!) I also met some other incredible women in her circle of friends. A photographer, a first time mom at 40, a woman who just found out her husband has cancer and a woman who, when questioned by her son why everyone looks different, replied "God is an artist". It was an amazing lunch and I felt lighter and encouraged after spending two hours over a leisure lunch with them.

I was also gifted with two days of babysitting this week by a sweet godly woman in our church. This comes at a much needed time and I am so glad I don't have to worry about them this week while I have to be away. God always provides for this little incidentals that I spend way too much time thinking about!

The "New" Smell

Our church has recently moved into a "new to us" building. We have renovated the old elementary school in town and have gussied up the place. New paint, new wall decor, new carpet. It's got that new smell you find in new cars, on new babies, and that unfortunatly wears off way too soon. But we are enjoying it while it lasts. God is blessing us with individuals each week that need Jesus. Thankful and prayerfully we are sharing Jesus in an effective way, so they can know him as their forever friend.

School has started back and with that the adventure of keeping Tucker busy while I am trying to teach the 3 r's to Savannah. As long as Tucker is busy...everyone is happy. Savannah is doing good and Tucker is surviving. He's learning a few things along the way about atronauts, family and the alphabet!

Tucker has also proclaimed a few things lately. This morning the first thing he said to me when he woke up was "Mom, I eat my snot." Could I be any more proud!?!

Catching Up

It's been a while!
The summer got crazy...life got hectic...SAM Club wrapped up...SMAK is over...I had a birthday...Mom came into town and now I am making preparations for school to start back for Savannah!
All that to say...I LOVE the AUTUMN! When school starts back things just seem to fall into place around my house. Our schedules get a little more organized and everyone is in a routine. I like it. I even notice my kids like it. Bruce...not so much....he's a spontaneous...fly by the seat of his pants kind of guy. He balances me out. I remember before we had kids going to walmart at 12 or 1 am just to get groceries. I can't even think about doing that now!
Anyway...I'm back on the journaling wagon again if anyone cares...I'll be posting more later!
